April is Dig Safe Month
Safety is our #1 concern when it comes to working on your property. We take that extra minute to get to know who's who in your household, from elderly parents to kids to pets and even beloved outdoor plants. We ensure all safety standards are met and complied with.
As part of the planning, we urge all homeowners to re-look at their home insurance policies and call LOCATES prior to any digging.

Not only is it a best practice, it is the law! Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act mandates that everyone, from professionals to DIY'ers, follow safety standards prior to putting shovels in the ground.
Click on the logo below to submit your locates request online. Locate pipes and utility lines at no cost!
They even have Homeowner Training Videos to assist with logging into the web portal. First time users need to sign up with their residential information and dig location while the ON1CALL database maps the site.
You will need the basic information to complete your request:
Your name
Your phone number
Your email address
Location of dig site
Type of work occurring on the property
Additional information may help to expedite your request:
Whether you’re excavating at the front, back, or side of the property and if you are digging near any property lines (i.e. if you are on public property or private property)
Whether your property is a corner lot or not
What side of the road your property is on (N,S,E,W)
Whether you will be digging by hand (shovel, pick or spade), or machine
If your type of work is a fence, whether the fence is being placed past the front corners of the house
If your type of work is a pool, whether a fence is being installed at the same time
Any special information you would normally give to someone visiting your house (ex. if you have a dog in the backyard)
It takes minimum of 5 business days to process a request to locate and mark. In some municipalities, ie: Vaughan, the minimum requirement is approximately 10 days notice to complete the response.
And finally, once the ticket has been finalized and ON1CALL member attends your site, they will respond in one of three ways:
clear
a locate, or
request for more time to respond
A locate is when a Member marks the ground where the infrastructure is located and provides paperwork backing up their markings, as well as provide (perhaps) instructions on how to dig around the marked infrastructure.

Ontario One Call recently released a news statement saying their Web Portal has been recently updated. To ensure you have the best experience, ensure you are using a current stable release web browser and that your web browsers cache has been cleared.
And remember, you can request a locate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!
